Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Sideways by Charlie Puth and featuring Coco Jones.

Charlie is an American singer who stared out on YouTube, uploading comedy videos and song covers in 2009. He went on to release his own music, brining out a music video foe the song These Are My Sexy Shades in 2010 and releasing his debut EP The Otto Tapes independently in December 2010.

The following year, Charlie won the online video competition Can You Sing?  alongside Emily Luther, with a cover of British singer Adele's Someone Like You. The two singers then signed to eleveneleven, the record label of American comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres and released the single Break Again in December 2011.

However, after Charlie recovered his first EP with them, eleveneleven disappeared and had dissolved by 2012. He self-released his second EP Ego in October 2013, for streaming and mostly concentrated on production and song writing for other artists over the next year or so.

In 2015, Charlie signed with APG/Atlantic and released his first official debut single Marvin Gaye, featuring singer Meghan Trainor in February that year. The single was a hit abroad and also did well in America. His career really took off with the release of the single See You Again by rapper Wiz Khalifa, which featured Charlie. The song was from the soundtrack for the 2015 film Fast and Furious 7 and was co-written by Wiz and Charlie. It was a tribute one of the franchise's stars, the late Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in November 2013.

Released in March 2015, See You Again was No. 1 on the Hot 100 Chart in the Us for 12 weeks and also topped international charts, including in the UK,. Australia Canada ,and Switzerland.

In August, Charlie released the single one Call Away. Both Marvin Gaye and One Call Away were later included on his debut studio album Nine Track Mind, which came out in January 2016. See You Again also appeared on the LP and international editions as a bonus track.

To date, he has released two more EPs -Some Type of Love (2015) and Spotify Singles (2017)-  and 3 more albums- Voicenotes (2018), Charlie (2022) and his latest, Whatever's Clever! His other singles include We Don't Talk Anymore featuring American actress and singer Selena Gomez, Attention, The Way I Am, Light Switch, Left and Right Koren singer Jungkook from K-pop boyband BTS and Changes.

Sideways is Charlie's most recent single and is from his 4th album Whatever's Clever! which came out in March. It was the 4th single to be release, following Changes, Beat Yourself Up (both of which were released ahead of the album in October last year and this January) and Home featuring Japanese American singer Hikaru Utada in March.

Sideways was also released in March, coming out on 27th (following Home on the 9th March). It features American singer Coco Jones and is a laid-back pop/R'n'B song with a melancholy vibe. It's a cool collab between the two artists. :)

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
