Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Reputation by American singer jxden. His real name is Jaden Hossler and his stage name (written in lower case) is prounced like his real name  ("Jaden").

jxden started his career as a social media influencer, posting videos on TikTok, where he became very popular. This led to him joining talent agency Talent X and the Sway House, a collective of TikTok stars.

In February 2020, jxden kicked off his music career by self-releasing his debut single Comatose. He was then signed to DTA Records (owned by drummer Travis Barker from the American band blink-182) , in partnership with Elektra Records and released several more singles that year. In October 2020 he signed a deal with Warner Chappell Music.

jxden released his debut studio album Tell Me About Tomorrow in July 2021. The following June he brought out two singles, (Beautiful Boy and Even in the Dark) and the EP 28 (Songs for Cooper) in memory of his late friend Cooper Noriega, who had died earlier that month.

In June 2024 he released his 2nd album When the Music Stops. jxden's singles include Angels & Demons, So What!, La Di Die with American singer Nessa Barrett, Think About Me, Elevated Heartbreak and Reputation. 

jxden has spoken about struggling with his mental health and his 2020 single Pray was about depression and suicidal thoughts.

Reputation is his latest single and came out 17th October. It's a pop/2000s rock song that addresses people talking about him/how he's seen in public and has been compared to songs from Canadian singer Justin Bieber's 2013 compilation album Journals. The music video also marks the first time that jxden dances to a choreography!

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. 25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences. The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix).
