Mabel Live Performances

British/Swedish singer Mabel  (full name Mabel McVey) released her second studio album About Last Night... in July (the follow up to her debut High Expectations). The album was created during the pandemic and sees Mabel trying out new sounds (including dance, synth-pop and disco) in addition to the R'n'B she started out with. It's a concept album based around a party.

The lead single from About Last Night... is Let Them Know and two others were subsequently released- Good Luck with British DJ Jax Jones and Swedish music duo Galantis, and Overthinking with American rapper and singer 24kGoldn.

Here are a couple of live performances from the album.

 

Let Love Go (Live)

First up is a live performance of Let Love Go, a promotional single. It was released in late June. The album and single versions feature American rapper and singer Lil Tecca, but this live Vevo performance is a solo one by Mabel. The video was uploaded on 29th June.

Overthinking (Live)

And here is a live version of Overthinking, the 3rd single from the album which was released in May. This is a solo version and the video was uploaded on 15th July, the same day that About Last Night... came out.

What do you think of ABLN? I haven't listened to the full album yet but from what I've heard, I prefer Mabel's older R'n'B style music (like on the Bedroom EP and Ivy to Roses mixtape) and songs from High Expectations. I do like the songs I've heard so far though; my favourite is Overthinking. And it's cool to see artists try new styles. :) I will share any more fave songs once I've listened to the whole thing.

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

Weekly Music Video

This week's video is The Way You Move by American singer JayDon . His real name is JayDon McCrary (his previous stage name was J.D. McCrary) and he started out as a child actor, appearing on a couple of episodes of American TV series K.C. Undercover  in 2015 and going on to voice Young Simba in the 2019 remake of The Lion King .  In January 2018, JayDon released his official debut single Inviting All of You, going on to become the youngest solo artist  to sign with Hollywood Records (part of Disney Music Group ) that summer. He also released the single My Name in August and his debut EP followed in April 2019. Last year, JayDon changed his stage name from J.D. McCrary to his birth name JayDon and released his first single under that name in November, Ah!
