I'm a horror film fan and two new horror movies are coming out soon- Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and IT Chapter Two, so I thought it would be cool to do a post on them. :)
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is based an 1980s series of books by American author Alvin Schwartz. In the film a group of teenagers living in the town of Mill Valley in 1968, come across a book of scary stories written by a girl called Sarah who lived in an old mansion. The teens discover that the stories have a life of their own...
Here's a trailer:
I'd never heard of these books, I think they weren't so well known in the UK. I expect I would have enjoyed reading them as a child and teen, since I was into Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? The individual stories look quite weird and creepy, especially the scarecrow!
Lana Del Rey sings a cover of British singer Donovan's Season of the Witch for the soundtrack. I first heard the original when it was played in the background of To Die For! I like Lana's version too. Listen to it below:
Scary Stories comes out next week in the UK (supposedly on 23rd August but there are cinema times showing for Tuesday the 20th which is confusing). It looks worth a watch, although I do think it would have been better to release it around Hallowe'en!

IT Chapter Two
And then's there IT Chapter Two, the sequel to the film version of IT which came out in 2017. Both are based on the book by Stephen King. I'm looking forward to it because I'm a fan of the 1990 miniseries, and I like the new version too. For more on the first film visit these posts:

Chapter Two starts 27 years after the group of friends (nicknamed The Losers Club) vanquished Pennywise the Dancing Clown (played by Bill Skarsgård, temporarily. Now it's 2016 and Bill Denbrough (played by James McAvoy) , Ben Hanscom (Jay Ryan), Stanley Uris (Andy Bean), Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain), Eddie Kaspbrak (James Ransone) and Richie Tozier (Bill Hader) are all adults who moved away from Derry and are living successful lives. But after a phone call from their old friend Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa, also known for being the Old Spice Guy!) with the news that murders have stared up again in town, they realise that "It" has returned and they must go back to face their old enemy once and for all.
Here's the trailer:
As I said, I enjoyed Chapter One. It had some differences to the miniseries, which I think were closer to the book. Pennywise was more menacing! I did find Richie more obnoxious in this version (I know his character is a joker, but I prefer the Seth Green version) and even Eddie seemed to have more of an attitude, lol. But overall it's good.
While the kids are now grown up, I think we'll see some flashback scenes. A good scene in the TV version is in the Chinese restaurant and I also like the part where Richie is in the library. I wonder how they'll do it in this one!
IT Chapter " is due for release on 6th September.
