Arabic Music 2023-2024

It's been a long time since I've written a post sharing Arabic music (apart from Weekly Music Videos). The last one was Turkish and Arabic Songs back in 2017! So today I'm sharing some newer Arabic songs, from the past couple of years.  :)

I've actually had this in mind for several months but taken a while to get round to it, lol. I went to my belly dance's group hafla (dance party) last month which partly inspired me to start it, but it still took me a while to finish the post!

Jhoome Jo Pathan Arabic Version (Pathaan)

I shared this last year, in my New Music for 2023- Various post. It's an Arabic version of the original Hindi song Jhoome Jo Pathaan from the Bollywood film Pathaan, which was released in January 2023.

For more on the movie and to watch the music video for the original song, visit my New Music for 2023- Bollywood post: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/01/new-music-for-2023-bollywoodasian.html

The Arabic version is sung by Moroccan singers Grini and Jamila El Badauoi. Watch the video here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/01/new-music-for-2023-various.html

NEJ'- Inta Habibi

Inta Habibi by French singer NEJ' (released in November 2022) was a Weekly Music Video back in May 2023. It's an Arabic and French language song: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/05/weekly-music-video_17.html

Elyanna- AL SHAM

I featured Palestinian- Chilean singer Elyanna's single EL SHAM (which was released in January) as a Weekly Music Video this March: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/03/weekly-music-video_20.html

Wallah Habibi (Arabic) from Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

In June Wallah Habibi, the Hindi language song from the Bollywood film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was a Weekly Music Video. The movie and song were released in April.

There also an Arabic version sung by Indian (Assamese) singer Rani Hazarika and Egyptian singer Hossam Hegazy. The title translates in English as "I swear, my dear" or "I promise, my love".

Visit my Weekly Music Video post for more on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and to watch the video for the original Wallah Habibi: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/06/weekly-music-video.html

And here's the video for the Arabic version, which was also uploaded in April. It features the main stars from the film, plus the singers.

STEFANIA X FAYDEE- Ma bebe

And in September I shared Romanian singer Stefania and Australian singer Faydee's collab Ma bebe (released in April) as a Weekly Music Video. It's a multilingual pop song with a mix of English, Arabic, Romanian and Italian lyrics.

Watch it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2024/09/weekly-music-video_18.html

Ouidad- Casa (Arabic Version)

Now some music I haven't previously shared! This is Casa by Ouidad. She's a French-Moroccan singer who has released several singles online. She sings in Arabic, French and English, and her songs include Under the influence, Casa, Je reste ("I stay" in English) and Quitte (Leave).

Ouidad released the single Casa in June 2023. It's a tribute to her hometown Casablanca in Morocco. She now lives in France but Casa is aways with her.  The original version is a French language song.

This April, Ouidad released an Arabic version of Casa. Both songs are from Ouidad's EP Il Ć©tait une fois (Once upon a time) which came out on 7th October. Watch the music video for the original Casa here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw4IWJ8eN_Y

And here is the Arabic version. This one is a bit slower and Ouidad is accompanied by musicians. It has a more melancholy vibe.

Dina Lambarki- Bghitou Yana

Finally, this is Bghitou Yana by Dina Lambarki. She's also from Morocco and her aim is to share Arabic music with the world. She describes her music as Moroccan urban pop and Rai (an Algerian type of folk music which is also popular in Morocco).

Dina comes from an artistic family and her dad was her first music teacher. She began her career in 2018, with the release of her debut song Ronaldo with Somadina. The track was a success, going viral. Dina's other popular songs include Solitude (released in 2019), Hetal imeta? (released in 2021) and the 2023 single Gher Ana Wiyak.

In addition to singing, Dina is involved in advocacy and philanthropic initiatives. She also runs the beauty brand DINARA COSMETICS.

Bghitou Yana is Dina's most recent single and was released in May. I think the title translates as "I Want You" or something similar in English. I like how she showcases Moroccan dancing and culture in the video. :)

25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences. The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix). I had previously heard the D...

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. Season 2 saw the departure of Lilly and the addition of 3 new pregnant girls and their partners- Laura Barron and her boyfriend (now husband) Tylor Stawmyor who have son Lucas (and have since had another baby , a 2nd son, who is named Leo), ...

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...
