Live Performances 2023

Back in July I did a round-up of posts on the blog featuring live music performances. You can see that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/07/live-performances-round-up-2022-2023.html

Today I'm featuring a few new live performances, by Denise Julia, Gen Neo and Tyla. :)

Denise Julia- bum 2 me |Rooftop Live from Manila

First up is Filipina singer Denise Julia. In June she sang her latest single bum 2 me (written in lower case) on a rooftop in the Philippines. It was her first time performing the song (released in April) in her hometown of Manila.

The performance is part of a series called Rooftop Live, produced by Unbound Entertainment. It showcases artists around the world. This is Episode 12.

bum 2 me is one of my current favourite songs and it's nice to see a live performance of it. As someone pointed out in the comments on YouTube, it seems to be the recorded version, so it's not strictly "live". But it's still good to see a performance. There are lovely shots of the Manila skyline. :)

Gen Neo- Losing Game Guitar Ver. (Official Live Performance

Last month Singaporean singer Gen Neo did a live performance of an alternative version of his latest single Losing Game, which came out in July. The original version (an English language R'n'B/pop track) is one of my current favourite songs. There are two alternative versions,  a guitar one and a piano one, and both sound good.

This is a live performance of the guitar version. While I like the more upbeat style of the original Losing Game, this version has a gentler, mellow, "stripped back" vibe which is relaxing.

Tyla- Water (Live) | Vevo DSCR

Finally, here is a live performance by South African singer Tyla. She performed her new single Water (released in July) as part of Vevo's DSCVR series, which features new music.

The song sounds good live, the background music gives it something extra. :) The video was uploaded in August.

Hope you enjoyed the post! :) Do you have any favourite live performances?

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
