Last month Indonesian girl group no na released their debut album. It's called island girl and came out on 18th September. Like the group's name, the album title and all the song titles are written in lower case.
Since debuting in May 2025 with the single shoot, no na have become successful both within Indonesia and internationally. Their debut album follows the release of several more singles and their first EP orchids (lullabies) which came out in July last year.
island girl consists of 15 tracks (including the singles work, rollerblade, honk! and star, and is a mixture of pop and R'n'B and influences from the members' Indonesian heritage. The first half is more Indonesian inspired and the second half moves into 80s style pop and R'n'B.
The album was preceded by 3 singles- work, rollerblade and honk! which were released earlier this year. Two more singles were released last month- speaker freaker the long song (a medley of songs from island girl) and star. My favourite songs are star, dizzy and party in the. I also like seafood diet and island girl.
Here are the singles and my fave songs from island girl. :)
work
work was the 1st single and was released in January. It's a high energy dance track consisting of Indonesian beats and rhythms inspired by gamelan (traditional Indonesian instrumental music). To be honest, I wasn't that keen on it when I first heard it, but it's grown on me and I like it now! It's catchy. :)
Please note that the song contains explicit lyrics. :)
I featured the music video for work in my New Music for 2026 post at the beginning of the year. You can see it here (scroll down): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/01/new-music-for-2026.html

rollerblade
This was the 2nd single from island girl, released in April. It's a dance-pop song that is also inspired by Latin pop and reggaeton. A mix of English and Indonesian lyrics, the track marked the first time that no na sang in Indonesian and reflects their mission to introduce the language of culture of their country to a global audience. Gamelan (see above) is referenced in the lyrics.
There have been two remixes which were both released in June- one featuring Indonesian singer-songwriter Jebung and another one with Dominican American singer Esty and Venezuelan singer, producer and songwriter Mari La Carajita. There is also a rollerblade part two on the album (only 32 seconds long).
This is the official music video.

honk!
The 3rd single, honk! came out in July. It's an energetic pop song that celebrates confidence and sisterhood, and is also about embracing life's adventures. The track is mostly English with some Indonesian lyrics.
It also contains some Indonesian cultural references, such as the Angkot (the public minibus/minivan transport system in Indonesia) and the chant "Om Telolet Om" which means "Sir, honk your horn, sir!" in English and requests that bus drivers honk their horns.
Random fact: The background vocals (I think the Om Telolet Om chant specifically) are provided by Indonesian rapper and singer Rich Brian, a fellow artist from 88rising, the girls' record label (also a mass media company).

speaker freaker the long song
speaker freaker is a song on island girl. However, speaker freaker the long song is a medley of 8 tracks on the album- dizzy, island girl, rollerblade/rollerblade part two, speaker freaker, smooth, party in the +62 and better on the island.
It was released on 11th September, a week before the album. The music video was filmed across Jakarta and Yogyakarta.
star
star is the 4th and latest single, released the same day as the album. It's the opening track and my favourite song on island girl. :)
star is more pop/R'n'B and has a slower vibe than the previous singles. It's about self-confidence and empowerment and is mostly English with a few Indonesian lyrics.
island girl
The title track, island girl is a laid back synth-pop song about first loves. It has both English and Bahasa Indonesia/Indonesian lyrics.
This is the official audio.
dizzy
dizzy is another of my fave songs. It's a more upbeat pop song which compares falling in love to feeling dizzy.
The video for the song is called dizzy 2025 (213) and features a dance performance from the members. I think the title refers to the fact that the video was filmed last year and also the filming location- 213 is the area code for Los Angeles, California in the US. Several of no na's dance videos have +62 in the titles, which refers to the international dialling code for Indonesia.
party in the +62
And finally, here is party in the +62. As mentioned above, "+62" is the Indonesian international dialling code, so it refers to partying in Indonesia. It's a new jack swing influenced song.
This is the audio.
