Weekly Music Video

Today's video is LaSalle Ave by American singer Jay Chang. His real name is Jay Steven Kapossy and he has a Filipino Chinese mum and Irish/Hungarian dad. 

Jay was born in the US but moved to South Korea for his music career. He followed in the footsteps of his dad, who was a musician in the 80s. 

He started out by competing on the Korean survival programme Under Nineteen in 2018 and while he didn't make the final group, he went on to make his solo debut with the digital single Is you in November 2020. He released two other digital singles- LIAR and I'd do anything.

Jay later signed with FM Entertainment. In 2023 he competed on another audition programme, BOYS PLANET and although he didn't make it in to the final line-up for the project boyband ZEROBASEONE, he became well known and it kickstarted his career. 

He made his official solo debut in October 2023 with the EP LATE NIGHT, which is a mixture of Korean and English tracks. The lead singles were I'll Be There and Rockstar. 

A month later, Jay also made his group debut with the 5-member boy band ONE PACT, made up of previous BOYS PLANET contestants. In addition, he also took part in the reality music competition Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival in early 2024. He placed first with his team, going on to debut as the project boy group B.D.U in June 2024.

Last November, Jay released his 2nd mini album Neighborhood. 

He has released 2 singles from the album so far- LaSalle Ave and What You Need featuring his ONE PACT bandmate TAG. 

He hasn't released much lately (his most recent video being a live cover of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' 2024 single Die With A Smile, with Filipino American singer Kriesha Chu. Maybe he's concentrating more on band activities right now. :) 

LaSalle Ave came out last November. I saw Jay perform it on Simply K-pop Con Tour at the time. It's an English language R'n'B song about memories from the past, reminiscent of old soul songs from the 60s and 70s. I also like the cat in the music video! :)

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002).
