MONSTA X Debut English Album

Sorry the post is late this week, I just realised I was behind a day, since I normally do the 2nd post on a Saturday! Bit of a stressful time lately. Never mind. :)

Korean boyband Monsta X (sometimes also written as MONSTA X) have just released their debut English language album, ALL ABOUT LUV. It came out on Friday (on Valentine's Day appropriately!).  The groups has released 3 Korean studio albums ,7 Korean  EPs and 2 Japanese albums  to date. I heard about their English album a while and I'm sure many English speaking fans have been looking forward to it! Although I'm (obviously) a K-pop fan, it is nice to hear songs by them in my first/native language. :) Sadly the group is down a member with Wonho leaving in October.

ALL ABOUT LUV contains 11 tracks (12 on the Extended Version which includes I.M.s rap version of BESIDE YOU). As you can tell by the album title all the songs are written in caps. And as you can tell the songs are all about love!

This is a good album. My favourite songs include MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, LOVE YOU, WHO DO YOU LOVE  and BESIDE U. It's more R'n'B than some of their K-pop songs, although when they first started out, their music was more hip hop (similar to BTS). It's interesting how music varies depending on the language. For example I consider the Japanese American singer Utada Hikaru's English stuff more alternative and "edgy" than her Japanese music, at least with her first English album  Exodus. This Is the One was mostly R'n'B.

Now here are a few of my fave songs. :)

MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

I'd say this is my favourite altogether. I just bought it on iTunes.  It was released as a single in December and is about a relationship that's difficult to let go of. Visit this post to watch the video: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2019/12/weekly-music-video_26.html

WHO DO U LOVE? feat. French Montana

Next up is WHO DO U LOVE featuring Moroccan American rapper French Montana. It was the first single from the  then upcoming album and came out in June last year. Has a catchy beat and lyrics. I featured it as a music video last summer: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2019/07/weekly-music-video_31.html

LOVE U

Next up is LOVE U, a song about wanting to express your love for someone and be with them in a way that can't be said on the radio! So basically a sex song, lol. This is an audio.

SOMEONE'S SOMEONE

SOMEONE'S SOMEONE was the 3rd single, released in October. You can find the music video here (K-pop section): https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2019/10/j-pop-and-k-pop-round-up-2019-new-videos.html

HAPPY WITHOUT ME

Laidback song with a good beat, that's about missing your ex and not wanting them to move on. Also an audio and so are the next songs.

YOU CAN'T HOLD MY HEART

This is a break-up song. My fave part is the chorus.

Update 24/4/20: Here is the official music video:

BESIDE U

Finally here is BESIDE U, an upbeat track featuring American rapper Pitbull. I like the lyrics about being with someone no matter where they are in the world.  A good one for those in long distance/international relationships! :)

Update 20/2/20: The lyric video for the I.M Rap version has just been released. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRkyS1FEplw

You can listen to the whole album on YouTube: ALL ABOUT LUV (Extended Version) YouTube Playlist

Hope you liked the post! I will update as/and when music videos are added. :) I think it's cool that Monsta X tried something new. When you are learning a foreign language you realise how hard it is to speak (and sing in it!).  I personally don't find it that easy to sing along to Korean songs (find Japanese a bit easier actually!) and since it's very different to English it must have been a challenge, but ALL ABOUT LUV really works! :)  What do you think of the album?

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...
