This week's video is Fergalicious by American singer Fergie. Her full name is Stacy Ferguson and she is a member of American group the Black Eyed Peas as well as being a solo singer.
As a child Fergie was part of the TV show Kids Incorporated. She went on to form trio Wild Orchid and they released 2 albums before she left in 2001. In 2003 Fergie joined the Black Eyed Peas and they released their 3rd album Elephunk, which featured some of their mort successful songs- Where Is The Love, Shut Up, Don't Phunk With My Heart and My Humps. Since then the group have brought out 2 more albums, their last being The Beginning in 2010.
As far as I know Fergie is still part of of the Black Eyed Peas but since she didn't appear on their last two songs Awesome and Yesterday, it's not known if she will be on their new album.
In July 2006 Fergie launched her career as a solo artist with the single London Bridge. It was a hit, reaching No 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in the US and in New Zealand, No 3 in the UK Singles Chart and high positions in other countries. In September 2006 she released her debut solo album The Dutchess which was popular. Fergie brought out 4 more singles from the album, Fergalicious, Glamorous featuring rapper Ludacris, Big Girls Don't Cry and Clumsy. Later singles (not from The Dutchess) include Finally featuring singer John Legend and Labels or Love from the Sex and The City film soundtrack (2008).
In addition to singing Fergie has acted in a few films including the remake of Poseidon (2006) and musical Nine (2009). She hasn't released any more albums to date but The Dutchess was re-released as The Dutchess EP in 2008. In late 2014 Fergie made a comeback with the single L.A. LOVE (La La) featuring rapper YG. Last June she said that she was finishing working on her second solo album but there's no sign of it yet. I hope she brings one out soon because it's 10 years this year since she released The Dutchess! I have it and it's a good album.
Fergalious features Fergie's bandmate will.iam and was released as a single in October 2006. Although it was her second best selling song in the US, it didn't do so well in the UK (No 62) but it's one of her most shown music videos here and one of my personal favourite Fergie songs. :) The song in the video is different to the album version since some single releases were shorter.
