Time for another Girls vs Boys post, this time from the UK and Ireland! It's between girl group The Saturdays and boyband The Wanted. Each group has four British members and one Irish member.
The Saturdays formed in 2007. The members are Rochelle Humes, Vanessa White, Una Foden, Frankie Bridge and Mollie King. (Rochelle, Vanessa, Mollie and Frankie are English and Una is Irish). They released their debut single If This Is Love in summer 2008 and their debut album Chasing Lights in October 2008.
Since then The Saturdays have released 5 studio albums, Chasing Lights, Wordshaker (2009), Headlines! (2010), On Your Radar (2011) and Living For The Weekend (2013) and 18 singles. Some of their most well known songs are Up!, Work, All Fired Up and Higher featuring American rapper Flo Rida. What About Us featuring Jamaican rapper Sean Paul was their first UK No 1 in 2012. In 2014 they brought out their first Greatest Hits album called Finest Selection: The Greatest Hits. The Saturdays latest single is What Are You Waiting For? which came out last August
In addition to the band, the girls have pursed other projects. Rochelle sometimes co-presents British TV show This Morning with her husband Marvin Humes (formerly a member of British boyband JLS, who split in 2013).* She also has a fashion line, as does Mollie. Una is currently a judge on The Voice Ireland and Frankie competed on dance show Strictly Come Dancing last year, finishing as runner-up. Vanessa was a contestant on Popstar to Operastar in 2010 and she's also sung with other acts. In 2013 the girls starred in their own reality series, Chasing the Saturdays. Before joining the group both Frankie and Rochelle were members of pop group S Club Juniors.
This is All Fired Up which was the 2nd single from On Your Radar and came out in September 2011.

*I just read that Rochelle is going to co-host new show Ninja Warrior UK. It must be a British version of the Japanese gameshow Ninja Warrior.
The Wanted formed in 2009 and there are 5 members, Max George, Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes and Tom Parker. (Max, Jay, Nathan and Tom are English and Siva is Irish). They released their debut single All Time Low in July 2010 and it was their first No 1. Their debut album The Wanted came out in October 2010.
The group have released 3 albums altogether, their debut, Battleground (2011) and Word of Mouth (2013) and 10 singles. Their most well known single is probably Glad You Came which was No 1 in the UK and Ireland in summer 2011 and was also successful in other countries, including the US and Canada. Some of their other singles are Lightning, Chasing the Sun, Walks Like Rihanna and We Own The Night.
Outside of The Wanted Nathan released a single with Ariana Grande called Almost Is Never Enough, Max has modelled and starred in Glee and Tom brought out a single called Fireflies with Richard Rawson aka Fazer from N-Dubz. Jay made his debut as a solo singer last September with his song Out Of Time. The band also had their own reality show on E! called The Wanted Life in 2013.
According to Wikipedia The Wanted are now on hiatus. I thought I heard they'd officially split but anyway they are currently on a break. Their last single was Glow in the Dark which was released in March 2014.
Here is Chasing the Sun, which is from Word of Mouth and was released in April 2012.
