It's been a while since I've done a J-pop specific post (the last one was in April ), so today I'm sharing a selection of J-pop videos. :)  KIRA- Bye Bye Boy First up is by Bye Bye Boy by KIRA . She is from Osaka and was the first Japanese singer at Macau Casino. She debuted in 2014 with the single Nadeshiko Soul, and brought out her debut album LISTENER KILLER. She released the mini album SURVIVE in 2016 and her 2nd album NAKED in 2018. KIRA's hit singles include a remix of Nadeshiko Soul featuring MINMI, TERRY JANE with Yosuke Kubokuza from LINE and Bye Bye Baby.  Her latest release is the digital single Don't text me, which came out in August. KIRA's music is more J-R'n'B than J-pop. Some other J-R'n'B singers I like are Hiromi and Jasmine. This week's video is HOT by Pia Mia . It's her latest single and came out in July. The song is the second single from Pia's upcoming debut album, following the single Princess. I look forward to hearing the album. Not sure when it's coming out yet, but will keep you updated. :) The video for HOT was uploaded to YouTube on 14th September. This week's video is Pink Dust by A.CHAL . His real name is Alejandro Chal and he was born in Peru, before moving to New York with his family aged 4. He started out in the music business by rapping and making his own music with a friend at a young age, then released his debut EP Ballroom Riots online in 2013. The EP led to him signing a publishing deal with Sony/ATV . A.CHAL then took a break for a couple of years, returning with the singles GAZI and Vibe W/U. He released his debut studio album Welcome to GAZI in June 2016, and then the single Round Whippin' in August. To date he has released several more singles including Love N Hennessey (also a remix with 2 Chainz and Nicky Jam), Cuanto (How Much) featuring A$AP Nast , Pink Dust and Hollywood Love featuring Gunna. I was pleased to see that because it's been a while since both have had any new releases! :)   Mariah Carey Save The Day with Ms Lauryn Hill First up is Save The Day, Mariah's new single. It features singer and rapper Lauryn Hill , and contains a sample from Killing Me Softly, the hit song by Lauryn's group The Fugees (now disbanded). The idea for Save the Day actually came 9 years ago! Mariah and her friend rapper and record producer Jermaine Dupri were originally planning to release it as a charity single. I've been doing C-pop Saturday a bit more regularly this year, so here's a new one for September! In today's post I'm featuring a Chinese girl group for the first time. :)   SING- Ye Sheng Ge First up is Ye Sheng Ge by Chinese girl group SING (also written as S.I.N.G). Their name stands for Super Impassioned Net Generation and they were formed in 2015 by Chinese music and streaming download service KuGou Music .  The group originally consisted of 10 members (from different regions of China), but now there are 7. The current members are leader Qin Yu (English name Sophie), Wu Yao (Miko), Xu Shiyin (Valentina), Bian Li (Jessica), Chen Li (Pink), Lin Hui (Haha) and Jiang Shen (Debbie). Lai Meiyun (Sunny) was also a member but she then concentrated on being a member of Chinese girl group Rocket Girls 101 , until their disbandment in June. This week's video is GUNSHOT, the new single by Korean mixed gender group KARD ( also sometimes written as K.A.R.D). It's from their first single album Way with Words which was released on 26th August. Way with Words contains 3 songs, Ah Ee Yah, GUNSHOT and Hold On, and GUNSHOT is the A-side single.  The music video for GUNSHOT came out on 26th August, and there is also a performance video which was uploaded yesterday.
