Weekly Music Video

Today's video is Gimme by American singer BANKS. It's her latest single and came out on 29th April. It's been ages since she released anything so I was excited to hear new BANKS music! In fact her last single was Underdog in September 2017, although she did also work with rapper 6LACK on the song In Between, so I should say last solo release! I haven't heard In Between; will check it out.

Gimme is one of my current favourite songs (recently bought it on iTunes). It's similar to her other music, so if you're a fan you should like it.  This is an audio but if a music video is made, I'll update the post. :)

BANKS is set to release an album this year. Her last album was 2016's The Altar so it's been a while! Her past two albums were released in September, so perhaps it will be this Sept? I'll keep you posted about news of the new one. :)

Update 24/5/19: The official video for Gimme just premiered last night! Here it is:

2nd update of the day: BANKS' new album III is due out in July! Looking forward to that. :) Read about it here: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/8512881/banks-iii-new-album-interview

P.S. I watched Eurovision on Saturday. The winner was The Netherlands' Duncan Laurence with Arcade. I thought it was fairly good and it stuck in my head! Obviously many people liked it best but my favourite was Albania and I voted for them again, like in the 2nd Semi-Final. They came 18th. The UK did badly, coming bottom. Poor Michael Rice! :( I didn't think the song was the greatest to be honest (no offence meant), but at least he gave it a good effort. :)

South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. That one is by Rang De and you can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/08/dance-videos.html This cover is by Indian choreographer Sonali Bhaduria, from LiveToDance with Sonali and was uploaded in January 2022. It's a shorter video.   For more on Pushpa and to watch the official Oo Antava Mawa video, check out my Tollywood Videos Round-up 2 post from September 2023: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/09/tollywood-videos-round-up-2.html ...

Weekly Music Video

Sorry there wasn't a 2nd post last week, I was going through a bit of a stressful time and didn't manage to get one finished. :) This week's video is I CONDEMN by Australian singer and rapper The Kid LAROI . It was the first single from the deluxe version of his second album BEFORE I FORGET. The original album was released in January and the deluxe version came out on 24th April. It contains 9 extra tracks, including  I CONDEMN and latest single PIECES. I wasn't aware that there was a deluxe version until I saw that some new songs had appeared on Spotify! I like BEFORE I FORGET and my favourite songs from the original version are ME + YOU, JULY,  COME DOWN and RATHER BE featuring Australian rapper and singer Lithe . One of my fave songs on the deluxe version is QUIT YOU, and I also like HOLD STILL and I CONDEMN. The newest single PIECES came out on out the same day as the album. I CONDEMN was released on 17th April. As with the songs on the original BEFORE I FORGET, it...

K-pop Comebacks- BTS

Sorry the 2nd post is later again this week, I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :) Last month I started a mini series called K-pop Comebacks, featuring the comebacks of K-pop groups during 2026. The first one was about BLACKPINK and you can see it here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2026/03/k-pop-comebacks-blackpink.html Today I'm focusing on BTS (one of the most popular Korean boybands ). They debuted in 2013 and are a 7-member group, made up of leader RM, formerly known as Rap Monster (real name Kim Nam Joon), SUGA (Min Yoon Gi), Jin (full name Kim Seok Jin), j-hope (Jung Ho-seok), Jimin (Park Ji Min), V (Kim Tae Hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). * Since then, the boys have been very successful, not only in South Korea but internationally. They are probably one of the most well-known K-pop bands worldwide.  In June 2022, the group took a break while the members served their  mandatory military service in Korea and have also been concentrat...
