Weekly Music Video

This week's video is Love Me Harder by Ariana Grande featuring The Weeknd. Ariana (full name Ariana Grande-Butera) is an American singer and actress who prior to releasing music was best known for starring as Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon TV show Victorious and its spinoff Sam & Cat. She also performed in the Broadway musical 13 in 2008. Due to her voice (her vocal range is a 4 octave light lyric soprano) and music style she has been compared to Mariah Carey.

Ariana released her debut single The Way featuring rapper Mac Miller in March 2013 and her debut album Yours Truly in August 2013. Her other singles include Right There featuring  rapper Big Sean (who she is currently dating), Problem featuring  rapper Iggy Azalea, Break Free featuring music producer/DJ Zedd and Bang Bang with singer Jessie J and rapper Nicki Minaj. She also did a duet with Nathan Sykes from The Wanted called Almost Is Never Enough. Last December Ariana brought out an EP for Christmas called Christmas Kisses. In August she released her second album My Everything. Love Me Harder is from My Everything and is out now.

I like Ariana's singles The Way and Right There but I didn't like that many songs off her first album when I listened to it online. I listened to My Everything recently though and I like more songs on that. It seems like a better album (in my opinion). I hope to get it for Christmas, lol.

Love Me Harder is a good song. I like the choice of The Weeknd to feature on it, he fits the song.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. 20th Anniversary of Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi Album- Part 1

My favourite singer Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of her 10th studio album The Emancipation of Mimi. It was released back in April 2005. I'd planned to write just one post about the album but it was turning into a really long one, so I've decided to divide it into two parts! Here is Part 1. :) The Emancipation of Mimi (or TEOM for short!) was considered Mariah's "comeback album" at the time, following on from her previous two albums, Glitter (2001) which was accompanied by the film of the same name and Charmbracelet (2002). Neither the Glitter movie or album were very well received and after going through a difficult time in general, Mariah had an emotional and physical breakdown and checked into hospital that summer.
