Top 10 Summer Songs

Since summer is nearly over I thought I'd do a post on songs/ videos to celebrate the summer while it's here! It's been hot in the UK the past few days and feels more "summery".  I was originally just going to post them randomly but then I decided to do a Top 10. So here are my Top 10 Summer Songs. :) 1. LL Cool J feat. Amerie- Paradise This is one of my favourite LL songs. It was released as a single in America in December 2002 and in the UK in February 2002, but it makes me think of summer because of the beautiful beach. Ameriie sings on the track (credited as Amerie) and American actress Gabrielle Union features in the video as LL Cool J's love interest. Paradise is from LL's 2002 album 10. 2. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince- Summertime This is a song that really makes you think of summer. It also gives me nostalgia because it came out in 1991 when I was 7, lol.  Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince were the combination of DJ Jeffery Allen

Weekly Music Video

Today's video is yea, babe, no way by LANY . They are an American 3 piece band and their music is described as " dream pop ". Members are lead singer Paul Klein who plays the keyboard and the guitar as well, Les Priest who also sings and plays the keyboard and guitar and drummer Jake P. Goss. The group formed in March 2014. In April they uploaded the songs Hot Lights and Walk Away to Soundcloud and released their debut EP Acronyms later that year. (LANY is an acronym for LA to New York). They were anonymous at first because Jake and Les had previously had their own project/duo WRLDS and they wanted their new music to stand alone. Last December LANY signed to British label Polydor Records and brought out the EP Make Out which contained songs from previous releases. Their first official single WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS? was released in March this year. The band also have two other EPs, I Loved You (2015) and kinda (2016). I saw this video on MTV Rocks last night.

JoJo Through the Years

American singer JoJo is set to release her 3rd studio album Mad Love in October. It will be her first full length album in 10 years! The last was The High Road which came out in 2006. She had record label issues which delayed the release of another album, although she has brought out mixtapes since then. In early 2014 she signed to Atlantic Records , her current label. The other day I saw a programme on one of the music channels which featured some of JoJo's videos and thought I'd do a post about her music through the years and include my favourites. :) Leave (Get Out) This was the first single from debut album JoJo, released in February 2004 when she was only 13. It's her most successful single to date, reaching No 1 on the US Pop Chart and the Top 5 in other countries, including the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Germany. JoJo is my favourite album (although I really like The High Road as well) and has a lot of good songs on it. :) Baby It's Yo

Today's song (it's an audio) is Gemini Feed by BANKS . I recently posted about her new single F**k With Myself and this is another good song. Presumably it's on her new album which is due out at the end of next month. :) Update 9/4/22: The audio is now gone but here's the music video:

Girls vs Boys- C-pop

As you'll know if you follow this blog, I'm a J-pop and K-pop fan. I haven't heard as many C-pop (Chinese pop) songs though, so I thought I'd check some out. :) I like CoCo Lee and it was actually an iTunes recomendation of Chinese singers who are similar to her that gave me the idea to do a C-pop post! I was originally going to do a post about several artists but it was turning into a long post and I don't have time to do it this weekend, so I decided to do a Girls vs Boys one instead. I'll write about more C-pop stars in the future. :) Today's post is about Taiwanese singers Jolin Tsai and Jay Chou who were romantically linked at one time, although it was never confirmed. Jolin Tsai (birth name Tsai l-ling) is very popular in Chinese speaking countries and other places too. Known as the "Queen of C-pop" she has had a 17 year singing career so far and is also a dancer, actress and entrepreneur. She sings in the Chinese language Mandarin
