Dance Videos

Sorry the 2nd post is later this week; I didn't manage to get it finished yesterday. :)

I haven't done that many general dance videos posts (featuring more than one more genre) lately. My last one was Dance Videos- Couples' Edition 2! in May but apart from that, I haven't written a lot this year.

So today I'm featuring a variety of videos from different genres. :)

 

[TPOP IN PUBLIC | ONE TAKE] FEAT- PIXIE | SINGAPORE DANCE COVER OPEROSE

First up, some T-pop (Thai pop) in Public! This is a dance cover of FEAT by Thai girl group PiXXie. It was released in May last year as a digital single.

The cover is performed by OPEROSE. They are a dance cover crew from Singapore. 

The video premiered in April and features MEGZ as Mabelz, JIAYI as Pimma and REENA as Inghko. It' s a one-take video, meaning it was filmed all in one go.

[KPOP IN PUBLIC | TIMES SQUARE | ONE TAKE] Girls' Generation- 'The Boys' | Obsessed Dance

Next, we have some K-pop in Public! Here is a new cover of the classic song The Boys by popular Korean 2nd generation girl group Girls' Generation. 

The Boys was the title track from Girls' Generation's 3rd Korean (and 4th overall) album, which was released back in October 2011. It was released as the lead single (also in October) and an English language version followed 2 months later.

It's one of my favourite songs of theirs. :) I like both versions, but the English one slightly more.

This is a cover of the Korean version and is performed by OBSESSED DANCE, a dance crew from New York City. The video (which premiered in June) was filmed in Times Square and is also a-one take. 

The dancers are Zoe as Jessica, Jessica as Tiffany, Estella as Yuroi, Becky as Sooyoung, Feifei as Tayeon, Sophie as Sunny, Alivia as Hyoyeon, Alisa as Yoona and JunDan as Seohyun.

[DANCE IN PUBLIC] TYLA | PUSH 2 START + JUMP + WATER (MIX) MINIZIZE CHOREOGRAPHY DANCE COVER- BBKOVZ

In the past year or so, the Dance in Public covers have expanded beyond K-pop (where I think it originated) and Asian genres, into other genres, such as Western and South African in this case!

This is a cover of several songs by South African singer Tyla- PUSH 2 START, Jump and the remix of her hit single Water.  

Water was released in July 2023, the lead single from Tyla's debut self-titled album (which came out in March 2024) and is one of her most successful singles to date. Jump was the 4th single from TYLA (released in May 2024)  and PUSH 2 START came out last October, alongside the deluxe edition of the album, TYLA+.

The  original cover was choreographed by Thai choreographer Earth_prompen and performed by members of Thai dance studio MINIZIZE in January. Watch their performance here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIWR_FcRUro

This cover is by BBKOVZ (a dancer from London) and friends!  It was uploaded in April. See the info box on YouTube for the dancers' Instagram links. :)

[DANCE IN PUBLIC] TYLA | PUSH 2 START + JUMP + WATER (MIX)' | MINIZIZE CHOREOGRAPHY By Two Secrets

And here is another dance cover of a mix of Tyla songs, this time by Two Secrets. They are a dance group from Madrid, Spain, currently made up of 6 members ranging from the ages of 17 to 21. 

The video premiered in June.

3 Easy Afro Moves From Nigeria For Beginners | DANCE TUTORIAL- Presh Okosi

And finally, here is another tutorial from Nigerian Afro-dancer and dance tutor Presh Okosi. After taking a break from YouTube, she has returned in recent weeks and uploaded a couple of new videos, the amapiano footwork one (see above) and this video.

In this video, Presh teaches us 3 easy Afro moves from Nigeria- Legwork, Up and Down Dance and Side by Side. It was uploaded on 4th July.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. The first series featured 3 couples expecting babies- Lily Bennett and her boyfriend James Kennedy who have daughter Aaliyah, now 2;  Mckayla Adkins and partner Caelan Morrison who have son Timothy, also known as Timmy (and now daughter Gracelynn , born in January 2019), and  Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden Massey who have daughter Scarlett. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences. The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix).
