Hallowe'en Frights!

Halloween (or Hallowe'en, the alternative spelling which I like) is coming up again, so it's time for my yearly post! It's next Thursday (31st October). I also celebrate the pagan festival Samhain on the same day.  In 2022 and 2023 I wrote posts called Selection of Hallowe'en Treats! and More Hallowe'en Treats! , where I shared a variety of past posts and videos related to scary subjects (plus a couple of new videos). This year I thought I would do a post in a similar vein (no pun intended!), featuring music and TV that fits the spooky theme. They are listed by genre. :) Music/Film John Lindahl's CULT CLASSIQUE Last year American singer John Lindahl released John Lindahl's CULT CLASSIQUE, his first independent album and third overall. It's a concept album accompanied by a film/miniseries, which tells the story of serial killer JOHNNY (another, darker side of John). The character is inspired by those from classic horror movies and the project is a ho...

More Hallowe'en Treats!

Halloween (or Hallowe'en, the alternative spelling which I like) is almost here, so it's time for my yearly post! This year it's on Tuesday (31st October). I'm a big fan of Hallowe'en and also celebrate the pagan festival Samhain on that date. Last year I wrote a post called Selection of Hallowe'en Treats! You can read that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2022/10/selection-of-halloween-treats.html This year I'm doing a similar selection of "treats" (past posts and videos related to scary subjects)! These are listed by genre rather than subject. :)   Films/Music Bollywood Horror Back in 2018 I wrote a post called Bollywood Horror, featuring some Bollywood horror films. You can see that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/10/bollywood-horror.html I haven't done a post solely about Bollywood horror since then (maybe in future!). I have written about a few other films in recent years though, so I'm sharing them below.    Raaz ...

It's Hallowe'en in a couple of days (Sunday 31st October) so time for my annual post! Last year I did my 2nd Hallowe'en Round-up post. You can see both that and my first one from 2016 below:  Hallowe'en Faves + Round-up: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2016/10/halloween-faves-round-up.html Hallowe'en Round-up 2:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2020/10/halloween-round-up-2.html   This year I'm sharing some spooky music videos! :)  Shakedown- At Night Back on Hallowe'en 2012 (9 years ago now!!) Watch it here https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2012/10/weekly-music-video_31.html   Red Velvet- RBB Next here is RBB (Really Bad Boy) by Korean girl group Red Velvet. World Horror for Hallowe'en

Hallowe'en is coming up next week! In previous years I've done themed posts. You can check out last years here: Hallowe'en Inspiration: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/10/halloween-inspiration.html This year I decided to feature some horror films from around the world. Unless otherwise stated, videos are trailers. :) Hong Kong Dumplings (2004) Please note: This film contains themes that may disturb some people. Former actress Mrs. Li ( Miriam Chin Wah Yeung ) feels that life is passing her by, she fears losing her looks and her husband is having an affair. So she goes to mysterious local chef Aunt Mei (played by Bai Ling ) for help. Mei's speciality is dumplings which have amazing rejuvenation powers. But they have a secret ingredient that Mrs. Li could never have imagined.... Update 4/6/22: The original trailer was gone, so I had to replace it. Spoilers below! Dumplings was originally a segment in the horror compilation Three...Extremes...

Hallowe'en Inspiration

Sorry the 2nd post is later this week, I wasn't able to finish it yesterday. :) It's almost Hallowe'en! It's this Wednesday (31st October) so here is this year's themed post. :) In 2016 I did a Hallowe'en Faves + Round-Up post which was about my favourite Hallowe'en/scary things and also a round-up of spooky themed posts I'd previously done on Star Sparkle. You can check that out here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2016/10/halloween-faves-round-up.html And here is last year's post with more Hallowe'en films and TV: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2017/10/more-halloween-films.html This year I'm doing a general Hallowe'en inspiration post which includes scary TV and films. :) Contains some spoilers, although I've tried to avoid them. :) TV In March I did a post called More X-Files Episodes, the follow-up to 2014's Top 10 X-Files. Check it out here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/03/more-x-files-episodes...

More X-Files Episodes

Sorry that the post is later again this week; I started it yesterday but went out for a meal with my dance group and didn't have time to finish. :) Back in 2014 I did a post of my Top 10  X-Files episodes which you can read here: http://starsparklex.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/top-10-x-files-episodes.html Now Season 11 is currently on in the UK, here's a follow ups of more of my favourite episodes.  While the Top 10 post is in the order that I like the episodes, this one is in chronological order. Unless otherwise stated videos are trailers. Post contains some spoilers. :) Eve (Series/Season 1, Episode 11) Two men are murdered in startlingly similar ways (blood drained out of holes in their necks) at exactly the same time. When Mulder and Scully (played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson respectively) investigate they discover that the men's daughters Teena Simmons (played by Sabrina Krievens ) in Connecticut and Cindy Reardon (played by her real life twin Erik...

More Hallowe'en Films + TV

Hallowe'en is coming up again! So in honour of that, here's a spooky themed post. :) Last year I did a Hallowe'en faves and round-up post, you can read that here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2016/10/halloween-faves-round-up.html Two years ago I posted about Hallowe'en films, you can find that in the round-up post or here:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2015/10/halloween-films.html So today I thought I'd do a follow post on more scary films. As with last year I've tried to avoid spoilers but there are a couple. Unless otherwise stated all video clips are trailers. :) The Disappeared (2008) This is a British horror about teenage boy Matthew (played by Harry Treadaway , twin of Luke ) who has recently returned home from a mental hospital. He suffered a breakdown after the disappearance of his little brother Tom, who is believed to be dead. Matthew tries to piece his life back together and heal his relationship with his dad ( Greg Wise ) but he ...

TV Round-Up

Sorry the post is later this week; I intended to post yesterday but went to a belly dance event and didn't have time. :) I'm currently working on a Music Index page where you can find posts on Star Sparkle from different music genres. I had the idea a while ago and I decided to go ahead and do it, especially since I changed the blog to a different design/theme   there aren't any tags at the top anymore. The page isn't ready yet but I thought today I'd do a round-up of television related posts. (There aren't as many posts so I'm doing this rather than a page). So here we go. :) Dance shows Dance Moms: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/03/dance-moms.html Dance Moms/Raising Asia: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/09/dance-moms-asia.html Dance Mums UK: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2015/11/dance-mums-with-jennifer-ellison.html Bring It!:  https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2014/08/dance-videos.html Step It Up: https://starsparklex...

Hallowe'en Faves + Round-Up

It's Hallowe'en on Monday, so I'm doing a post on my favourite Hallowe'en/scary things, plus a round-up of spooky themed things on the blog. :) I tried to avoid spoilers but there are a couple. Books Trick or Treat by Richie Tankersly Cuisick This is a Point Horror book (the series was hugely popular in the 90s, ahhh nostalgia! lol) and the story is about Martha, a girl who moves to a new town after her dad gets married. She finds it hard adjusting to having a stepmum and isn't keen on her stepbrother, Conor but most of all she dislikes the creepy house. She learns that something terrible happened in the house and in the lead-up to Hallowe'en weird things keep happening, especially in Martha's room! I've had this for years and like to re-read it occasionally around Hallowe'en; I just started reading it again today. :) Halloween Night by R.L. Stine Another Point Horror, written by R.L. Stine who also wrote the Goosebumps series (see b...
