More Asian Dance in Public Videos

Back in February, I wrote a post called Asian Dance in Public Videos, which featured some Dance in Public (dance covers of songs performed in public places) videos from various Asian music genres. You can see it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2025/02/asian-dance-in-public-videos.html

Today I thought I'd do a follow-up post, sharing more videos. :)

 

[INDONESIAN POP IN PUBLIC] no na - 'superstitious' Dance cover in LONDON- CADENCE 

First up some Indonesian pop/I-pop! This is a dance cover of "superstitious" by Indonesian girl group no na. It was their 2nd single, released as a double A-side along with "falling in love" in May.

The cover is performed by British dance crew CADENCE, who describe themselves as "friends who like to dance". The video (which was uploaded in July) was filmed in London and features Kelly as Esther, Isabella as Baila, Amida as Christy and Kaylee as Shaz.

[DANCE IN PUBLIC] No Na - Superstitious- JAK Official

And here is another superstitious dance cover, this time by JAK Official. They are a dance team based in Michigan, US and they cover different dance genres (many of which are K-pop but others include M-pop (Malaysian pop) and T-pop/Thai pop).

The video premiered on 7th October and the dancers are Liyah, Aqua, Toto and Shirley.

[MPOP IN PUBLIC] DOLLA - CLASSIC Dance Cover by TEAMXX from Singapore

Now we move onto M-pop! I don't think I've actually featured any Malaysian pop dance covers on the blog before. :)

This is a dance cover of CLASSIC, by Malaysian girl group DOLLA.  It was the 2nd single from their debut album NEW CLASSIC, both of which were released in November 2023.

The cover is performed by TEAMXX (pronounced "team-mi"), a K-pop dance cover crew from Singapore. The video premiered in December 2023, so it's one of the earlier M-pop covers (the dance cover craze started out with K-pop covers but then spread to other music genres). The dancers are Zul, Rhe, Lea and Asy.

[MPOP IN PUBLIC | ONE TAKE] DOLLA - MWA! Dance Cover by 1119DH | MALAYSIA

Here is a cover of DOLLA's more recent single MWA!, which came out in May.  It's performed by 1119 (TRIPLE1NINE), a Malaysian production house and dance performance company.

The video is a one-take (meaning it was shot all in one take) and premiered in July. The dancers are ALYSSA as Angel, ALYSSA as Sabronzo and ZOEY as Tabby.

[TPOP IN PUBLIC] TOBII - 'HOTEL LOBBY' Dance cover & choreography by Phenikaa Art Club

Finally, here is some T-pop (Thai pop)! Earlier this year, Swiss/Thai rapper Tobii's single Hotel Lobby was popular in the cover dance world (as was his 2024 single Bad Girls Like You, which received many dance covers!). I shared one of the Hotel Lobby covers in my Dance Videos- Couples' Edition 2! in March, which was performed by Vietnamese dance group BTB. The choreography was by Thai dance studio MINIZIZE and quite a few dance groups performed their version. However, here is a version which was choreographed by Vietnamese dance group Phenikaa Art Club.

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year. 25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences. The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix).
