This week I'm featuring some more new music, this time in various genres. :)

 

Gen Neo feat. DeVita- Like California

This past week's music video was Like California, the new single by Singaporean singer Gen Neo and featuring Korean singer DeVita. It came out on 10th January. See the post here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/01/weekly-music-video_18.html

 

Jhoome Jo Pathaan Arabic Version (Pathaan)

Next up is the Arabic version of Jhoome Jo Pathan, from the upcoming Bollywood film Pathaan (starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham). I featured the original Hindi version of Jhoome Jo Pathaan (and wrote more about the movie) in last week's New Music post: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2023/01/new-music-for-2023-bollywoodasian.html

The Arabic version is sung by Moroccan singers Grini (full name Abd El Fattah Grini) and Jamila El Badaoui, and the video was uploaded on 19th January. English subtitles available. :)

 

 

Pathaan is due for release on 25th January.

TWICE- MOONLIGHT SUNRISE

Korean girl group TWICE have just released a new single. It's called MOONLIGHT SUNRISE and is a pre-release English track. It precedes their 12 mini-album Our Youth, set for release in March. The song is their 2nd English single, coming after 2021's The Feels.*

MOONLIGHT SUNRISE came out yesterday (20th January).



* Update 12/3/23: The new mini album is actually called READY TO BE. Maybe Our Youth was a working title.

B Young- Word For Word

Finally, here is Word For Word, the latest single by British rapper and singer B Young.  It's a slow song (more ballad like and different to his usual style) about struggling in relationships. 

The video also premiered yesterday.

25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. New J.Lo and JoJo Music

Two singers I like, Jennifer Lopez and JoJo have new music out, so today I'm sharing it on the blog! Jennifer Lopez- Baila Conmigo First up is Jennifer Lopez, whose new song is the Spanish language Baila Conmigo (Dance with Me). It's a cover of the 2018 single by Dayvi featuring Kelly Ruiz . Debut XG Mini Album

Japanese girl group XG have released their 1st mini album. It's called NEW DNA and was released on 27th September. XG (whose name is short for Xtraordinary Girls) made their debut in March last year and have brought out 7 singles so far- Tippy Toes, MASCARA, LEFT RIGHT/SHOOTING STAR double single), GVRL GANG , TGIF, NEW DANCE and PUPPET SHOW. The first 3 songs (or 4 including the double single) aren't on the mini album. The concept behind NEW DNA is that of being a "new species" free from conventions and limitations .  Although the group is Japanese, their creation was inspired by Korean music and they are based in South Korea. They have released songs in English so far and have been described as a global group and "X-pop". NEW DNA consists of 6 tracks- HESONO, X-GENE, GVRL GANG, TGIF, NEW DANCE and PUPPET SHOW. It is an R'n'B/pop mini album with influences from other genres, such as K-pop, dance and hip hop. My favourite song is PUPPET SHOW. I al
