Live Performances 2025

Today I thought I'd share some more live performances from this year. :)

Mariah Carey feat. Anderson .Paak- Play This Song (The Tonight Show)

2025 has been a busy year for my favourite singer Mariah Carey! In addition to celebrating the 20th anniversary of her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi (see above for live performances post), she also released her 16th studio album Here For It All on 26th September.

At the end of September, Mariah performed live on American TV show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She sang Play This Song, the 3rd single from Here For It All, which features American singer Anderson. Paak. 

The track features vocals from both Mariah and Anderson, who also plays the piano. The video was uploaded on 30th September.

Ayra Starr- Hot Body at Global Citizen Festival NYC 2025

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr recently performed at this year's Global Citizen Festival in New York City, US. Global Citizen is described as a "social action platform for a global generation that aims to solve the world's biggest challenges". They hold festivals around the world to help their campaign. I featured some of Jennifer Lopez's performances at the New York event on the blog, back in 2021 (see below).

The 2025 festival took place on 27th September in Central Park. Other performers included Colombian singer Shakira, South African singer Tyla, Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna and ROSÉ from Korean girl group BLACKPINK.

Ayra performed several songs, including her 2022 single Rush, Hot Body and Is It a Crime with Nigerian singer and rapper Rema (he released the single Baby (Is It a Crime) in February).

Here is Hot Body, Ayra's recent single from the summer. It was released back in July, with a music video coming out in September.

no na- Shoot (HITC NY Performance)

Finally, here is a performance by Indonesian girl group no na. They performed their single shoot at the Head in the Clouds NYC event, which took place at Under the K Bridge in New York on 20th September The festival was one of several that was organised by their record label (also a mass media company) 88rising, which primarily represents Asian artists.

Other performers at the NYC festival included Filipino-Indonesian DJ ISOxo, Indonesian rapper Rich Brian, Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba and Canadian DJ and producer Juelz.

shoot was no na's debut single, released in May. The performance was uploaded to the girls' official YouTube channel on 1st October.

New Unexpected

We're finally getting the new season of the reality TV series Unexpected in the UK! Season 3 was shown in the US last summer , and I wondered when we'd get it here. I don't have any online streaming services so thought I'd just watch clips on YouTube, lol. However it's now starting here in early March. Similar to the popular MTV franchise Teen Mom , Unexpected focuses on teen parents. 25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences. The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix). South Indian Videos

I've written several Bollywood posts this year but I don't feature South Indian music/films as much. So today I'm sharing some music and dance videos from Tollywood ( the Telugu language film industry) and Kollywood (the Tamil language film industry). :) Oo Antava Mawa- Pushpa- Dance Cover by Sonali First up is a dance cover of the song Oo Antava Mawa..Oo Oo Antava from the 2021 Tollywood film Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1 . I previously featured a dance cover of Oo Antava Mawa in a Dance Videos post in August last year.
