1. Genie in a Bottle
This is my favourite Christina song of all. It's her debut single and was released in America in June 1999 but I think it came out around October in the UK. Genie in a Bottle is from Christina's debut self titled album and is one of her best selling singles to date, reaching No 1 in the US, UK, Australia and Canada and No 2 in other countries. There's a Spanish version which appears on her album Mi Reflejo (My Reflection), Genio Atrapado (which translates as something like "Trapped Genie").
I included it in my recent Top 10 Summer Songs post.
Watch the Genio Atrapado video here (it's basically the same as the English one): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsYg48vuOTo
2. Come On Over (All I Want Is You)
Come On Over was the 4th single from Christina Aguilera and was released in September 2000 in the US, and October 2000 in the UK. The album version is different though (e.g. it doesn't have the rap and the music is different).
There is a Spanish version called Ven Conmigo (Solamente Tu) which translates as Come With Me (Only You).
You can watch the Ven Conmigo video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elOCH3vcZFM
3. Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (with Ricky Martin)
This is actually Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin's single but Christina features on it. It came out in the beginning of 2001 and was a hit single. I think I got this for my birthday in March but I'm not entirely sure.
You can find Nobody Wants To Be Lonely on a later version of Ricky's 2nd English language album Sound Loaded (2000) and on Christina's greatest hits album Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits (2008). Ricky also has a solo Spanish language version called Solo Quiero Amarte (I Only Want to Love You).
4. Get Mine, Get Yours
Get Mine, Get Yours is my favourite song from the 2002 album Stripped. (That album is my fave of hers altogether). It was never released as a single so there's no video.
5. What a Girl Wants
This was the 2nd single from Christina's first album and came out in November 1999. Like Come On Over it was remixed for release as a single. There's a Spanish version called Una Mujer (A Woman).
6. Dirrty feat. Redman
When this came out in September 2002 the sexual video shocked everyone! lol. Although Christina had sung about sex before and had sexy videos, this was a very different style to previous releases because it was more explicit and in your face. It was the lead single from her 3rd album Stripped and featured American rapper Redman.
Dirrty was a popular song in many countries, and reached No 1 here in the UK and in Ireland.
7. Can't Hold Us Down feat. Lil' Kim
Another one from Stripped, this came out in July 2003. American rapper Lil' Kim features on it. The song is about the double standard when it comes to men and women and sexual behaviour, for example how men who have many partners are praised as "players" but women are called "wh**es".
8. Tell Me (with P Diddy/Diddy)*
Back in November 2006 Christina featured on American rapper and producer P. Diddy/Diddy's single Tell Me. The song is on his Press Play album.
9. Fighter
Fighter is also from Stripped and came out in March 2003.
10. Bionic
The title song from the 2010 album, this was never a single so it doesn't have a video. It's my favourite song on the album.
Bonus
Your Body
I also like Your Body and wasn't sure whether to have it as No 10, but in the end I went with Bionic and decided to include this one as a Bonus. :) It was the first single from Christina's 7th album Lotus and came out in September 2012. In the video she seduces men and then murders them, but you see paint and confetti instead of blood! Bit of a weird one, lol.
Hope you like the list! What are your favourite Christina songs? :)
*Formerly Puff Daddy, he changed his stage name twice but he isn't allowed to use Diddy in the UK since there's already a DJ who uses that name here.
