Mariah's World

As I'm sure you've heard me mention before, Mariah Carey is my favourite singer! :) Her new reality show Mariah's World just started showing in the UK and it's been interesting to learn a bit more about her. I was surprised that she was doing a reality show/documentary actually because she seems like quite a private person. There are all the diva rumours but I don't know much about her day to day life.

Mariah's World follows Mariah preparing for the European leg of her world tour Sweet Sweet Fantasy and also getting ready for her wedding to Australian businessman and investor James Packer (now her ex-fiancé). Her twins with ex-husband rapper and actor Nick Cannon, Morrocan and Monroe also make an appearance. Other people featuring are her new manager Stella Bulochnikov and choreographer/dancer Anthony Burrell, who you'll know already if you're a Dance Moms fan. (Abby's arch rival Cathy brought him in to choreograph for her team Candy Apples). We also saw Mariah's nephew in the first episode last Sunday. Plus there are shots of Mariah lying around in skimpy outfits!

Here's the trailer:

Also here's a clip from the first episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAyKWe0WY6Q

I've only seen one episode so far but the series seems good. Mariah had to postpone her wedding to James because she was too busy with the tour. She then travelled to Glasgow but was late because the twins' nanny packed her passport in her suitcase, so didn't have it with her on the plane. Her new assistant Molly got upset because she couldn't plug Mariah's Apple TV in in the hotel room (she needs it to help her sleep) and Anthony threw a bit of a strop over costumes! lol. I don't hugely like the manager Stella but Mariah said she needed someone like her because she was being taken advantage of. I felt sorry for Molly getting so upset. :( I don't think I could do that kind of job, I'd find it really stressful.

Mariah seems to work hard. I remember reading years ago that she's nocturnal and we saw her arriving at the dance studio in the evening and rehearsing until the early morning. She was wary about being lifted by her dancers since she did that during a performance before and hurt her shoulder.

Since the show was filmed, Mariah and James have broken up. She's now dating Bryan Tanaka who was a dancer on the tour. He appears in Mariah's World; apparently more footage of him was added after she split from James. You can read an article about that here: http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/mariah-carey-has-boyfriend-bryan-tanaka-added-to-mariahs-world-w456222

Mariah's World is on E! on Sunday at 9pm.

J Soul Brothers (Japanese boyband)

I don't know that many Japanese boybands. It's funny but I mostly know Korean groups and Japanese solo singers! I know KAT-TUN, Arashi (although they're more of a rock group, I think) and Hey! Say! JUMP but not many more. A friend recently introduced to me the band (or vocal and dance unit) J Soul Brothers, so I thought today I'd do a post about them. And of course it fits into the J-pop and K-pop theme I'm doing this month! This is a good opportunity to find more J-pop boybands too. :)

The J Soul Brothers were originally formed in 1998 but have gone through two line-up changes. The current incarnation- full title Sandaime (Third Generation) J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE* or J Soul Brothers III- was formed in 2010 by HIRO who is the leader of Japanese boyband EXILE (which has an impressive 19 members!) and founding member of the First Generation J Soul Brothers.  It was decided that EXILE and former Nidaimie (Second Generation) J Soul Brothers members NAOTO and …

Dance Moms- Chloe Update

Series/Season 7 of American reality show Dance Moms is currently showing in the UK and I recently heard that one of the original dancers Chloe Lukasiak will be returning for the finale.

Chloe and her mum Christi weren't liked by the dance teacher and studio owner Abby Lee Miller and Christi often clashed with Abby. They left at the end of Series 4. Abby treated Chloe horribly in my opinion, once referring to her as "that girl over there" instead of her name. I always disliked the way Abby punishes the girls if she falls out with their mothers. Also Abby seemed to want to Chloe to fail in competitions, which was weird because she was one of her students representing her!! I think she just wants to be proven right a lot of the time. Chloe was my favourite out of the original girls (Chloe, Maddie, Nia, Mackenzie, Brooke  ans Paige, although Kendall joined quite early on) and I was glad for her when she finally left because she didn't have to put up with being treated li…

Christmas Round-up

In October I did a Hallowe'en round-up post. Since today is Christmas Eve I thought it would be cool to do a Christmas round-up. :)

Books

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (Narnia)

This is the 2nd book in the fantasy children's series The Chronicles of Narnia. Originally published in 1950, it's become a kid's classic. The series is about the magical land of Narnia which is actually meant to be Heaven. It's ruled over by the great lion Aslan (who is like Jesus). But if you're not religious (like me) it's still an entertaining story.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is about siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie who are evacuated from London to the country during the Blitz. They go to stay with Professor Kirke who lives alone apart from his housekeeper Mrs. Macready. While looking round the house the youngest girl Lucy discovers an entrance to Narnia in the back of a wardrobe. She comes out in a snowy…
