Anggun Lyrics Project

Continuing the lyrics project for Indonesian singer Anggun's Elevation album, here are the lyrics for Seize the moment. It samples another piece of music called Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, which was composed by Japanese musician, record producer and actor Ryuichi Sakamoto, for the 1983 film of the same name. The music has also been remixed and sampled by others, including dance group Watergate for their song Heart of Asia (2000) and Japanese American singer Utada Hikaru for her song Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence-FYI (2009).  People have also commented that the music in Seize the moment is similar to Justin Timberlake's My Love.

Anggun also has a French version of this called Hymne a la vie (Life anthem/Hymn of life) and an Indonesian version called Sebelum berhenti. These are the lyrics for the English version which, I partly got from a YouTube video and partly did myself.

Update 22/11/13: The video to the English version has now been made private, so you can no longer view
it. :( But you can still listen to the different versions at the link below. :)

Seize the moment
Ohh ohh ohhh x2

Verse 1
I collected many words
Within my head
Most of them remained unsaid
But I never lose the time
That the things I meant to do
Standing in a hall, asking me to carry them through
Been taking my time but I wasted the time
Till I realised I miss, I miss, that kiss (that kiss)
No use in denying cause I know only time
Can heal me from that kiss, I've missed (I've missed)

Every time I breathe
I won't let a second pass me by
Seize the moment (ah)
And I won't release it or leave it
Every time I breathe
There will be a second passing by
Seize the moment (ah)
(Won't let it go)
Every time I breathe
I won't let a second pass me by
Seize the moment (ah)
And I won't release it, or leave it
Every time I breathe
I will seize the moment that won't let go

Verse 2

I remember many dreams
I learned to get (?)
Most of them still lie in my bed (?)
But I never lose the time
But I do remember you, with a glory smile
How I wish I cherished you too/How I wished that I wished you too (?)
The places I've been
And the faces I've seen
They're still somewhere on hold, on hold, untold (untold)
The space in between
What is real, what's a dream
The story's still untold, untold

As the time goes by (as time goes by)
With me leaving you (I'm leaving you)
You'll realise (realise) realise (realise)
Everything we've got (things that we've got)
And the things we could lose (we could all lose)
Took you by surprise (by surprise)

Chorus x2
For all three versions and the French lyrics, visit this link:
There may be mistakes in it because some of it was hard to hear. If anyone knows the French translation
or has the Indonesian lyrics and translation, please let me know. :)

Update: It may have been the above video where I got the Chorus lyrics from but I can't remember.
I've also included a link to Utada's version because it's one of my fave songs of hers:
Note: The text went a bit funny; I can't seem to sort it out!

So Sharp: Dance Squad

So Sharp: Dance Squad is an American reality TV series about the University of Louisville Ladybird Dance Team run by Todd Sharp. It's set in Louisville, Kentucky. As you'll know if you follow this blog, I'm a fan of dance reality shows such as Dance Moms and Bring It! So I was interested when So Sharp started in the UK a few weeks ago.

Todd is head coach along with Sheryl Knight, a former Ladybird herself. Todd has also coached the Floyd Central Dazzlers. The team have won 15 national championships so far.

As with the other dance reality shows, there's a lot of drama! Marissa Hall is close to Todd and describes him as like a father to her. She is considered one if the best dancers and her close relationship with Todd rubs some people up the wrong way, particularly Michelle Carpenter. Rose Crombie is one of Marissa's main rivals but according to the Decidr article about the team (see below) they're close. Gabrielle Iannone struggles sometimes with the choreograp…

J Soul Brothers (Japanese boyband)

I don't know that many Japanese boybands. It's funny but I mostly know Korean groups and Japanese solo singers! I know KAT-TUN, Arashi (although they're more of a rock group, I think) and Hey! Say! JUMP but not many more. A friend recently introduced to me the band (or vocal and dance unit) J Soul Brothers, so I thought today I'd do a post about them. And of course it fits into the J-pop and K-pop theme I'm doing this month! This is a good opportunity to find more J-pop boybands too. :)

The J Soul Brothers were originally formed in 1998 but have gone through two line-up changes. The current incarnation- full title Sandaime (Third Generation) J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE* or J Soul Brothers III- was formed in 2010 by HIRO who is the leader of Japanese boyband EXILE (which has an impressive 19 members!) and founding member of the First Generation J Soul Brothers.  It was decided that EXILE and former Nidaimie (Second Generation) J Soul Brothers members NAOTO and …

Dance Videos

It's time for another dance post! I thought I'd feature both modern dance and belly dance today. :)

First of all here are a couple of dance videos by choreographer Rumer Noel. This is one to Everyday by Ariana Grande that was uploaded in January. According to comments on YouTube the man dancing with Rumer at the beginning is called Lucas la Parada.
