Girls vs Boys- Bollywood

I thought it would be good to do a Bollywood Girls vs Boys, so today it's Katrina Kaif vs Akshay Kumar.

Katrina and Akshay have been in several films together, including Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006), Namastey London (2007) and Singh Is Kinng (2008).

Katrina started acting in 2003. She is half Indian and half English (her dad is a Kashmiri from the UK and her mum is English) and was born in Hong Kong. She lived in various places while growing up, including Asia, Europe and Hawaii. Her birth name is Katrina Turquotte/Turcotte but she took on her father's surname after she started acting because she thought it would be easier to pronounce.

Katrina started out as a model and went into acting after being cast in Bollywood film Boom (2003). She moved to India and went on to star in many films, including Welcome, Race and Dhoom: 3. She has also acted in the South Indians film industries Tollywood and Malayalam. When Katrina first started out she couldn't speak Hindi very well but she took lessons and is now one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood. Her latest film is Bang Bang , set to be released in October and she is currently filming Phantom.

Here is Katrina in the video for Sheila Ki Jawani from Tees Maar Khan (2010). Sheila Ki Jawani is sung by playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan, who also sang Dhoom Machale. Akshay is in this as well, although it's mainly Katrina's song and his part is sung by Vishal Dadlani.

Akshay (real name Rajiv Harry Om-Bhatia) is a very successful Bollywood actor with a long career. He also started out as a model before becoming an actor. Before modelling Akshay studied martial arts and had a small role as a karate instructor in Aaj (1987) but his first proper film was Saugandh in 1991. Some of his most successful films have been the Khiladi series (an Indian version of James Bond).

Akshay is known for his action films ( due to his martial arts background he performs his own stunts) and also has a talent for comedy, having starred in Hera Pheri (2000), the sequel Phir Hera Pheri (2006) and Housefull (2010). In addition he has played romantic leads. His other film credits include Ajnabee (2001), Bewafa (2005), Garam Masala (2005), Tees Mar Khan and Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013). Akshay's latest release is Entertainment (2014) and he's currently filming several movies.

This is Akshay in Chakna Chakna from Namastey London. The playback singer is Himesh Reshammiya.

Update 28/6/19: EROS has now blocked this video from being played on 3rd party sites. But you can still see it on YouTube fine. :)

Also here are Akshay and Katrina again in Jee Karda from Singh Is Kingg, because I like the song!

Who do you prefer? Or do you like them both? :)

Unexpected Girls Updates

Back in September I did a post about the American reality TV show Unexpected. You can read it here: https://starsparklex.blogspot.com/2018/09/unexpected.html

There have been two seasons (or series as we also call it in the UK) so far. There will be a 3rd one  featuring mums Lexus, Mckayla and Chloe (Chloe joined in Series 2). Emiley who joined in Season 2, says she isn't returning (see below) so. Laura (who also joined in S2) will also not be back (see below for more on that). Original cast member Lexus shared a casting call on her Instagram page in November, so it seems the company is looking for new girls due to give birth from March to June 2019. Check out the post here; https://www.instagram.com/p/BpzfLAjg8ek/

The gossip site Starcasm also reports that Unexpected's producers are casting for a new programme: https://starcasm.net/unexpected-producers-casting-pregnant-teens-from-same-high-school-or-tap-program-for-new-reality-series/

Unexpected

23/2/19: Updated with new links. :)

Unexpected (full title Unexpected: Teenage & Pregnant) is an American reality TV series following the lives of pregnant teenagers and their partners, and their journey into parenthood. It's the TLC version of the hit show 16 and Pregnant, which spawned the spin off Teen Mom. The first series/season was shown last year, and Series 2 was shown in the US this summer and has just started in the UK.

Season 1 followed  16 year old Lilly Bennett and her boyfriend James,  15 year old Lexus Scheller and boyfriend Shayden, 17, and Mckayla Adkins 16 and her boyfriend Caelan Morrison. Lilly gave birth to daughter Aaliyah Rose, Lexus had a daughter named Scarlett, and McKayla had son Timothy (Timmy).

All 3 of the girls' mums were also teen mothers, and in Lexus' case her grandmother was a teen mum too.

S2 catches up with Mckayla and Lexus, and introduce some new girls and their boyfriends. I'm focusing mainly on the girls here, like with my Te…

Top 10 True Movies

I like watching films based on true stories. I used to watch them occasionally as a child and teen but I started watching them more after the True Movies channels (True Movies 1 and True Movies 2) launched on Sky 11 years ago. It seems weird that it's been so long, lol. I usually watch the films on those channels (or True Entertainment) but I also sometimes watch them on Lifetime or other channels. (I think a lot of these are Lifetime original movies but we didn't get the Lifetime channel in the UK until late 2013).

I thought that today I'd share my Top 10 True Movies. :)

Trigger warning:

Most of the films are based on crimes (often murder or abuse) and I realise these are difficult subjects, so read with caution if you're sensitive to these type of films.

Posts may contain spoilers. Unless otherwise stated, videos are trailers. :)
