Top 10 Britney Spears Songs

Last year I did a post on my Top 10 Christina Aguilera songs. She's one of my favourite singers along with Britney Spears. Now here are my Top 10 Britney songs. :)

I've also just realised it's her birthday today, so Happy Birthday Britney! :)

1. ...Baby One More Time

Classic Britney! ...Baby One More Time was her debut single which was released in 1998 in the US and early 1999 in the UK (I got it for a birthday present in March). It's one of her most well known and successful singles and is from the debut album of the same name (released in 1999).

2. Oops!...I Did It Again

Another of Britney's best selling singles, Oops! was released in March 2000. I remember my mum telling me that Britney had a new video! lol. It's from her second album of the same name.

3. Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know

This came out in early 2001 and is one of my fave songs from Oops!..I Did It Again. It was the 4th single from the album.

4. Toxic

Toxic was the second single from Britney's 4th album In The Zone (2004) and came out in January 2004. The song was originally offered to Australian singer Kylie Minogue but she turned it down. It reached the Top 5 in many countries, including the Us, UK, Australia and Norway. The video features New Zealand actor Martin Henderson.

5. Stronger

Stronger was from the third single from the Oops! album. It was released in November 2000.

6. I'm A Slave 4 U

I'm A Slave 4 U  (which was the first single from Britney's self-titled 3rd album) was released in September 2001 and is also one of her most well known songs. It didn't do so well in the charts as other singles (such as ...Baby One More time and Oops!..I Did It Again) but it seems to be one of her most popular music videos. I do like it but I don't listen to it so often these days, because I got overload of the video!

7. Womanizer

Womanizer was the first single from Britney's 6th album Circus which came out in 2008. It was released in September that year. This is the Director's Cut video.

8. Overprotected

Overprotected was the second single from Britney. It came out in late 2001 and there is also a remix. I actually sang this when I auditioned for Cop Idol (a take off of the talent show Pop Idol) in early 2002!

9. My Prerogative

This single was released during Britney's marriage to second husband Kevin Federline in September 2004. It's a cover of the Bobby Brown song and is basically about how it's her prerogative to do what she wants. Kevin features in the video. You can find the single on the Greatest Hits: My Prerogative album.

10. Radar

Radar appears on both the 2007 album Blackout (Britney's 5th studio release) and the 2008 album Circus (her 6th album).  It was released as a single in June 2009. I first heard it on Blackout and it's one of my favourite songs from the album.

Hope you like the list! What are your favourite Britney songs? :)

25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey's Butterfly Album

My favourite singer Mariah Carey recently released a 25th anniversary edition of her 6th studio album Butterfly. The original album was released on 16th September 1997 and featured songs such as her hit single Honey, The Roof and My All. It was actually the first album I ever bought (on cassette tape, lol) and I still consider it one of my fave MC albums. :) Butterfly was the first album that Mariah had more control over and it is R'n'B, rather than the pop (and later pop/R'n'B) of her previous releases. It also has pop and hip hop influences.  The expanded edition contain 8 extra tracks (the original standard edition has 12)- a duet version of Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight , a new take on The Roof featuring Brandy , live versions of Butterfly and My All, acapella versions of Fourth of July and Outside, an Amorphous Anniversary Club Mix of Butterfly (with DJ Amorphous ) and a remix of Honey (Another Taste of Honey David Morales Mix). I had previously heard the

Debut XG Mini Album

Japanese girl group XG have released their 1st mini album. It's called NEW DNA and was released on 27th September. XG (whose name is short for Xtraordinary Girls) made their debut in March last year and have brought out 7 singles so far- Tippy Toes, MASCARA, LEFT RIGHT/SHOOTING STAR double single), GVRL GANG , TGIF, NEW DANCE and PUPPET SHOW. The first 3 songs (or 4 including the double single) aren't on the mini album. The concept behind NEW DNA is that of being a "new species" free from conventions and limitations .  Although the group is Japanese, their creation was inspired by Korean music and they are based in South Korea. They have released songs in English so far and have been described as a global group and "X-pop". NEW DNA consists of 6 tracks- HESONO, X-GENE, GVRL GANG, TGIF, NEW DANCE and PUPPET SHOW. It is an R'n'B/pop mini album with influences from other genres, such as K-pop, dance and hip hop. My favourite song is PUPPET SHOW. I al
